About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HR Officer to join our team in the mining industry. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage HR processes efficiently with minimal supervision. You will support the HR Manager by delivering effective HR services and contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
We are looking for a skilled HR Officer who will recruit, support and develop talent through developing policies and managing procedures. You will be responsible for administrative tasks and you’ll contribute to making the company a better place to work.
Provide advice, guidance and support to employees and line managers on a broad range of people related matters HR issues including the interpretation of policies, procedures and terms and conditions of employment; managing discipline and grievances, resourcing and workforce planning; and effective utilisation of the performance review process.

Requirements
Role can be based at either our Johannesburg or Carletonville offices.
Must have own and reliable vehicle and must be prepared to travel for company business, sometimes to countries outside of South Africa where required.
Will be an 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday (generally office-based) position.
Essential functions of this role:
Recruitment and Onboarding:
o Manage end-to-end recruitment processes: job advertisement, CV sourcing, shortlisting, reference checks, and setting up interviews.
o Draft interview guides and coordinate interview schedules.
o Prepare and amend employment contracts.
o Facilitate onboarding processes, including orientation and new joiner packs.
HR Administration:
o Maintain accurate employee records and files.
o Assist with payroll administration and general HR queries, including reporting to payroll medical aid and relevant pension fund additions.
o Draft HR-related letters: employment confirmations, increase letters, certificates of service, etc.
Training and Development:
o Develop and maintain internal competency matrix.
o Identify training opportunities and coordinate internal/external training.
o Keep training records and prepare reports for ATR and WSP submissions.
Employment Equity:
o Participate in EE meetings and support compliance initiatives.
o Prepare EE submissions, maintain records, and assist with drafting EE plans.
Labour Relations:
o Support managers on disciplinary and grievance matters, which include investigation of incidents.
o Draft warnings and take minutes during hearings.
o Provide guidance on labour law compliance and company policies.
Performance Management:
o Assist in developing and managing KPIs.
o Support probation and performance review processes.
Reporting and Compliance:
o Draft and maintain HR policies and procedures.
o Actively participate in various support meetings e.g. monthly Departmental team meetings, Safety meetings.
o Manage and prioritise emails from various stakeholders in the business.
o Compile weekly and monthly progress reports.
o Assist with exit processes, including conducting exit interviews and ensuring compliance with termination procedures, including reporting to payroll medical aid and relevant pension fund terminations.
o Liaise with line managers re contract renewals / ends
Staff Welfare and Events:
o Coordinate employee welfare programs, functions, and conferences.
Desired skills and/or experience (Depending on level of application):
Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management (NQF 7).
o Postgraduate qualification in HR or Labor Law is advantageous.
Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, preferably in the mining or processing environment.
o Proven experience in preparing Employment Equity (EE) submissions, Workplace Skills Plans (WSP), and Annual Training Reports (ATR).
o Strong track record in taking accurate minutes during hearings, disciplinary meetings, and committee discussions.
Technical Skills:
o Strong knowledge of labour laws and HR best practices.
o Computer literate with proficiency in modern HR systems and tools.
